Athy Art Group

New Members

The Athy Art Group was formed in 1971 and the first exhibition on the scale of which is organised presently, was mounted in 1979.

Since then, Athy Art Group has been an open group, our only stipulation being that new members are residents of Athy.

As a member of Athy Art Group, you will be able to exhibit in our annual exhibition (we make sure that every member that wishes to exhibit, is given the opportunity, regardless) and are able to upload an image of their latest work into our online gallery.

Unlike other Art Groups, there is no issues over any perceived ‘standards’ for art exhibited. The Athy Art Group was formed to give all artists an opportunity to exhibit and we maintain this approach, regardless.
We give all our members an equal opportunity to exhibit, regardless of whether they are a beginner amateur artist or a seasoned professional artist. Every piece of art exhibited adds to the exhibition as a whole.

If you are live in Athy or the surrounding area, become a member of Athy Art Group. The 2012 membership fee is 20 euros (10 euros for OAP/unwaged/students). Please note: we only distribute exhibition entry forms to paid members.

Exhibiting Members

If you are exhibiting in the Athy Art Group Exhibition, please note the following:

  1. Exhibits ONLY from members of the Athy Art Group.
  2. Works must be left in the Athy GAA Hall, Dublin Road, Athy, on Sunday 23rd June, 2013 between 3p.m. and 6p.m.
  3. Paintings must be properly assembled with secure hooks/cords and framed (i.e. ready for hanging). Each work must be clearly labeled with name, address, price and title on the back of each piece as on the entry form. Paintings failing to comply with this condition will not be accepted.
  4. In the event of limited hanging space it may be necessary to limit the number of entries. This will be done on the basis of space allocated to each artist. Therefore when numbering the works, indicate the order of priority. THIS WILL BE STRICTLY ADHERED TO.
  5. As the display stands are 4ft x 4ft (120cm x 120cm), works which are excessively heavy or larger than 3ft 6” (105cm) in either width or height, will not be exhibited. The Athy Art Group Committee will refuse to accept pieces if they fall into the above criteria.
  6. Sculptors exhibiting should consult committee regarding space required.
  7. The utmost care will be taken of all works submitted for exhibition, but the Athy Art Group will not hold itself responsible for any damage to, or loss of, such works by fire or otherwise, whilst in the possession of the Athy Art Group. Any insurance should therefore be the responsibility of the artist.

The full Conditions of Entry are on the Exhibition Entry Forms, sent to all members of Athy Art Group.
